EdUHK makes its mark in Shanghai
Shanghai, home to China’s largest urban population and one of the world’s foremost financial and commercial centres, boosts a robust educational infrastructure with numerous high-quality primary and secondary schools as well as international institutions. Many students from these schools aspire to study abroad. In response, FLASS Marketing Officer Ms Dolores He Peiying, in partnership with the Global Affairs Office (GAO), visited three prestigious Shanghai schools in March to brief students, parents, and teachers on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
At the education fair held at Shanghai Taiwanese Children’s School (上海台商子女學校) on 6 March, Ms He delivered an admissions talk to 200 students, parents, and teachers from the school’s middle and high school sections. At fairs organised by Yew Chung International School (YCIS) Shanghai (上海耀中國際學校) on 7 March and YK Pao School Shanghai (上海包玉剛實驗學校) on 14 March, Ms He outlined curriculum design, admission requirements, and career pathways for our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and answered numerous questions on the spot.
EdUHK received positive feedback at these enrolment events. “At YCIS Shanghai, parents shared that recent graduates who chose EdUHK have found the experience highly rewarding. This positive word-of-mouth has strengthened prospective students’ confidence in choosing EdUHK as their top choice. Some parents considering a return to Hong Kong also visited our booth to learn about admission requirements, and several expressed interest in applying for our taught postgraduate programmes after moving back,” Ms He said.
They spoke highly of our double-degree programmes and enquired about entry requirements and career pathways.
At the Hong Kong Universities Fair held at YK Pao School Shanghai, Hong Kong residents currently working in Shanghai expressed strong interest in sending their children back home for university education. They spoke highly of our double-degree programmes and enquired about entry requirements and career pathways. “Broadly speaking, students and parents showed the strongest interest in our personal finance, AI and educational technology programmes,” Ms He added.
As a major commercial hub, Shanghai attracts a large and diverse population, including a significant number of Hong Kong professionals who live and work in the city. Many well-off local and expatriate families favour overseas university education for their children, citing factors such as academic quality, language and cultural immersion, and enhanced career prospects. Consequently, Shanghai has emerged as a vital recruitment market for FLASS, offering a steady pipeline of potential applicants from international schools and expatriate communities. We remain committed to engaging this market and providing prospective applicants with the information and guidance they need.
